Shipment and Happiness (A series of works)
Work description
“Shipment” uses automation to depict the journey of a parcel that travels 22,800 kilometers.
“Happiness” draws the Chinese character for happiness with a motor, a timing belt, pulleys and bearings. It is presented as a “Hui Chun” – a Chinese New Year fortune message.
Biography
Eric Siu is a new media artist raised in Hong Kong. In 2008, he completed a twelve-month cultural exchange and research project in the United States funded by the Lee Hysan Foundation, Asian Cultural Council. Eric’s video art and multi-media works have been shown both locally and internationally in the United States, Australia, Japan, Korea, Germany, and Poland, amongst others. His video short “Sliding Whites” received an honorable mention from the WRO 05, 11th International Media Art Biennale, Wroclaw, Poland. Eric earned his bachelor degree from the School of Creative Media, City University of Hong Kong. Since 2008, he serves as board member of Videotage, Hong Kong.
