After moving eight times throughout my life, there’s a constant feeling of yearning in the back of my mind. I can only visit my childhood homes on Google Streetview. Every time I visit my mom, she raves about how I would have loved her old clothes that she donated when we moved for the second time. With each relocation, we only packed away the practical things and gave away so many memories—things that we thought just took up space and weighed us down. I’ve come to terms with these lost mementos. As I’m slowly rebuilding my own collection that I’ll take with me to my next home, I want to help document and preserve my friends’ collections, memories, and then some.
