Imprints

Imprints is a counter mapping of Valley Christian High School, San Jose. My high school was built on a hill, like an arcadia that stood out from the surrounding communities. The illustration in the middle left contains three important elements from my high school experience: the San Jose neighborhood where I lived, the rolling yellow mountains, and the Conservatory, my high school’s landmark building. At the top right is an overhead view of my school, where I have marked my four years’ traces in red.
It can also be viewed as a mental map of my four years journey. Inspired by the black and white aesthetic of the video game “World of Horror”, I created a map that mimics the game’s glitchy interface. I wanted to include some fun interactivity with the viewer and let them enjoy themselves while spending time exploring the various details hidden in this map.
