YAOZHENG SONG

Levitating

It’s not recommended to use wireless headphones or speakers, on which lag between video and audio might happen.

Levitating reviews a past experience in which I created an artistic series that questioned and redefined my artistic identity.

The artistic series consists of five “visual instruments,” originally built to visualize rhythm and simplify music performance. For the first time, the skills and talents from my engineering background were applied and merged into visual arts, resulting in unexpected hybrids of both aspects. While being surprised, I was driven to think about the boundary between engineering and arts, as well as redefining my position between an engineer and a visual artist. The six months of creation and reflection not only levitated my skills but my vision to a new domain.

Levitating features a special performance video to fully demonstrates the potentials found in these “visual instruments.” Entry to each instrument is also listed.
