YESTERDAY WAS ANOTHER OUTFIT

Yesterday Was Another Outfit represents the change I have gone through over the years. Throughout life, there have been clothes I’ve grown out of and experiences that I have learned from. I use outfits as a means of expression; each outfit having their own story to tell– a representation of who I am and my own personal style. Objectively good or bad experiences are tied to what we wear, but the clothing itself does not define us.

THE PAST;

IT WAS WHO I WAS

MEANT TO BE

PRESENTLY DEFINED

BY MY SHIRT

AND MY JEANS

BY A FUTURE

NOT YET SEEN

RIPPING FROM THE SEAMS

READY TO BE WEAVED

IT’S TIME TO BREATHE

Kai Levey

I often found it difficult to express myself to people growing up. I was diagnosed with Steven Johnson’s syndrome; a disease that greatly affected my life experiences due to its straining effect on my vision. Through art, I was able to find a way to express myself for who I am as an individual without worrying about being judged. I aim to bring my passions– music, fashion, and design– into one unified vision. My art has made it possible for me openly express who I am to those around me, while creating an environment for me to better myself. My goal is to show others who come from difficult circumstances that being able to openly express themselves without fear of judgement is possible and that there are always others like them, willing and waiting to hear their story, and support them in their craft.
